Forgiveness
July 13th, 2008The evangelist tonight spoke on forgiveness. My thoughts went to a situation I learned about earlier in the day. A teenager was saving his allowance to purchase a bike. His mother realized that he had saved a considerable amount towards the bike and wanted him to give it to her because she didn’t have money to wash clothes.
I was very irritated. How could a mother, who has a job, ask such a thing from her son. The sermon on forgiveness was a message I and the teenager needed to hear.
Yet, I don’t believe that forgiveness lets someone off the hook. Nor do I think that it means that we just let things like this simply happen without any intervention. It does change the attitude in which one responds the agent.
