Shooting
November 28th, 2006Here is a article my co-worker Michael Nolt wrote about his experience last Friday. I hope it will help you to continue to pray for our safety and that people’s hearts would be changed by the power of the Gospel.
Friday evening I had decided to do something with Denzel. As I was walking up the street to pick him up, I was nearly at his house, when I found him outside riding his bike. Denzel was about to park his bike, when unnoticed by me, another car pulled up. All of a sudden, two guys, who I hadn’t paid much attention to, came running “all out” toward me. Of course, I started wandering what was going on. I noticed, as they were running toward me, that the one guy pulled something out of his pocket that looked like a gun. I didn’t want to believe it right away, and so as they passed me (one on either side), I spun around and watched them. About ten feet from me, the one guy dropped something and I recognized it as a bullet clip. They got to the corner of 6th St. and Oxford St. (about thirty feet away from me) at that empty lot, and there one guy pulled up his gun and started pulling the trigger. I don’t no how many times he tried to shoot, but his gun would not go off. All I could hear was the clicking sound of the hammer, but no shots were fired. After a futile attempt to shoot whatever or whoever was up there, the guys came running back, jumped in a car and sped off. By now me and Denzel were standing on his front porch not knowing what to do or where to go. I can tell you one thing, I was praying and praying hard for safety. God granted us that safety and none of us were hurt. I can thank God for this incident, because it scared Denzel, which gave me and opportunity to talk to him, and to show him that, as a Christian, I can depend on God for my protection and safety no matter what happens.
