My sister was around for the weekend. We went to the Ben Franklin display at the Constitution Center (just down 6th Street about 12 blocks). They had some great artifacts, paintings, and information on Ben Franklin. It was great. We also did the regular tour of the Constitution Center. They have a lot of information there.

Here is a shot from the Constitution Center toward Independence Hall. There are a couple of tour or transportation buses on the street.

Here is a picture of myself in the Signer’s Hall at the Constitution Center. James McHenry is contemplating one the contemporary problems with me. He really liked my DELL Axim. He said it was quicker then his horse. I felt good about that. He wasn’t sure that Franklin could give up his paper method of reading the news though.

In the Face

March 15th, 2006

We had the Faith High School Evangelism Team here for the day. Phil took them to different parts of the city for literature distribution. I was along with them to Center City. On of the guys was working right across from City Hall when a homeless man just up and slugged him in the jaw. No one from the group was right there with him but some other people jumped in the pushed the homeless man away. He said that the mayor gave him permission to do it.

Well, I believe the Evangelism Team member is fine. He wasn’t feeling the greatest right at first though.

In the evening the team did a Gospel presentation at the children/youth Bible study. Powerful stuff! I know conviction was in the group as they presented the difference in destiny (Heaven or Hell) of those who follow Jesus or those who follow ones own self (Atheism, Good Works, Self-Sufficiency).

Key Verse: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.” – Jesus (John 14:6)

Distant View

March 12th, 2006

Here is a picture I took of the city the other day. One of the youth guys and I were going to go to the Philadelphia Zoo on Saturday. Well there was such a large crowd there also trying to go to the zoo that we gave up and then went over to a hill were we can see the city from a distance. Rather neat view. Maybe I’ll be able to get a better shot on a clearer day.

Warmer Weather

March 10th, 2006

Hi, We are finally having some warmer weather. I guess I don’t exactly care for the COLD LONG winters. Maybe it isn’t that bad.

Yesterday (Thursday) was nicer (50s) and today it is supposed to hit 70. That will be great.

Yesteday I had one of my Tuesday Bible Studay youth guys over to bake some cookies. We had a great time.

One of the boys was enjoying Phil’s dog.

They seemed to be enjoying the nice day on the sidewalk steps.

Tuesday Bible Study

March 7th, 2006

We had a good children/youth Bible study tonight. I help teach 7th & 8th boys and they were surprisingly calm. (thank God) Some classes had problems though.

All the children wait outside on the sidewalk till 7:30 before coming into the church.

Before we divide into classes we sing together as a group. A lot of our children’s songs are on posters. Sometimes the children will hold the posters.

Shannon is leading the singing here.

UYWR

March 6th, 2006

Friday and Saturday we were out at Camp Andrews at the annual Urban Youth Workers Retreat. This weekend was aimed at connecting with other ministries who work with children and youth in the city. It was great! …and challenging!

The main speakers were Rick Rhodes (he is going to Thailand to help start IGO with Val Yoder) and Dr. Enos Martin.
